Lisa Jackson, RN
As a retired Registered Nurse having worked in Medical, Surgical and Psychiatric environments, I
understand the benefits and limitations of conventional medicine. I witnessed the revolving door syndrome from merely treating symptoms with medicine, surgery or radiation.
After my oldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer and completing an integrative program, I experienced the power to heal from within, both for my daughter and for myself. My daughter got a clean PET scan, and I put my autoimmune disease in remission, eliminated the need for bifocals without surgery or medications, and lowered my blood pressure and cholesterol with diet and lifestyle changes.
If I can do this, then so can you!
Even though I taught nutrition as a Registered Nurse, I didn’t understand just how much food could be medicine. I didn’t understand how diet alone is not nutrition.
As a Certified Health Coach, I understand how every one of us are unique. Applied Functional Medicine teaches us how to identify each patient’s unique root cause to their dis-ease.
In my lifetime I’ve witnessed the rising epidemic of cancers, diabetes, and autoimmune disease as well as an increase in anxiety, depression and insomnia. As a mother of four adult children and two grandchildren, I’m passionate to change this trajectory.
I am immensely grateful and proud to be part of this movement to move from a palliative illness care system to one based on wellness and the individual’s innate ability to heal from within. Even though optimal health is not complicated, making long term sustainable change can be challenging.
Having a strong support system is essential. Having a good supportive community is vital.
In my private practice www.carpediemwellness.org, I partner with clients seeking a sustainable approach to health to include necessary testing to reveal root causes and a customized, unique and comprehensive treatment plan that encompasses nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, lifestyle, personalized supplementation, and root cause therapies. This approach benefits people who are seeking support for chronic inflammatory conditions, thyroid conditions, autoimmunity, digestive problems, as well as overall optimal health.
I wrote the book, Savvy Secrets: Eat, Think & Thrive as a self-health book to inspire, educate and empower you to feel and look your best at any age. When you surround yourself with healthy people, your health improves.
What you eat, think and do today determines the future you. I’m thrilled to join my friend and colleague Susan Brady to create this online community where we can grow together towards optimal health and wellbeing. Thank you for enriching our lives with your presence and participation.
